Bernfeld, S. Sisyphus: Or, the Limits of Education.

This coming week, we will read the first two chapters of Siegfried Bernfeld's Sisyphus. How can psychoanalysis be used as a tool to reveal the deployment of social norms in institutional settings? This and many other questions will be the subject of our discussion.

Psychoannals meets in Harper 125 at 7pm every other Monday.

10/8: Introduction to the Problem of Psychoanalysis and Education

At our first meeting of the academic year, we'll discuss both the importance of psychoanalysis to an understanding of education and how the contested nature of psychoanalytic education bears on this issue. Full reading list will be posted soon!
